A rapidly growing coastal district between Palmerston North and Wellington, Horowhenua is home to about 38,000 residents. The district's main town is Levin, with other communities including Foxton, Shannon, and Tokomaru.

Horowhenua faces hazards such as storms, earthquakes, and flooding. There will also be tsunami risk along the district's coast.

Information during an emergency

During an emergency, information will be available through a number of channels from Manawatū-Whanganui Emergency Management and Horowhenua District Council.

Horowhenua District Council will provide information to the community and visitors through a variety of channels, including their website, Antenno App and Facebook. Horowhenua District Council will also use traditional media channels like radio and local newspapers to share information.
